Sofia Vergara Receives SAG Nomination

The Modern Family sitcom star received a Screen Actors Guild nomination Wednesday for the outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series category. Vergara, 40, is up against fellow Family star Julie Bowden for the award in a sweep for the Emmy-award winning sitcom. Up next for Vergara: will she score a Golden Globes nod? After her famous loss to Glee actress Jane Lynch for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ last year, industry insiders and fans alike are anxiously awaiting tomorrow’s big nominations announcement.

Sold! Eva Longoria Sells Latina Legal Drama

Proving that she’ll be a prominent figure in Hollywood long after the Desperate Housewives franchise ends its 8-season run next spring, Eva Longoria has sold a legal drama titled Vega v. Vega to the CW. The one-hour show features a young Latina attorney who is forced to go into practice with her mother, a fierce lawyer.

It’s just the latest in a string of projects for Longoria, 36, who also owns a restaurant chain, Beso, has her own fragrance, Eva by Eva Longoria, is a spokesmodel for cosmetics company L’Oreal and has recently penned a cookbook titled “Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends.”

‘Grey’s’ Actress Sara Ramirez: The Voice of a Latina Princess

Greys Anatomy actress Sara Ramirez, 36, will be lending her voice to a new Disney Channel project, titled Sofia the First. Slated to appeal to young female audience, the animated project will feature a girl who is suddenly thrust into the spotlight as she begins a life of royalty.  The Mexican-American Ramirez, who won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a musical for her role in the Broadway show Spamalot, has played the role of Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy for the past 5 years.

Romeo to Star in ABC Comedy

Bachata superstar Romeo Santos, 30, recently made headlines with the announcement that he will make his small screen debut in a new comedy produced by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. The project, which has been picked up by ABC, will feature the Dominican-American chart topper as he pursues his version of the American dream while trying to please his traditional parents. Set in Washington Heights in New York City, the show is slated to begin filming next year.

Vazquez Sounds Signs with Sony Music

If you have a tween in your household, chances are you’ve heard of this musical trio from Mexico whose tracks have repeatedly gone viral on YouTube. Angie (10) is the star of the show, whose sweet vocals accompany Abelardo’s (15) strumming of the guitar and bass, while Gustavo (13) keeps the amateur group on rhythm with his drumming. The amateur group, which whose cover of Adele’s hit “Rolling in the Deep” is currently #1 on Mexico’s iTunes has another reason to celebrate: they’ve just been signed to Sony Music. Under their direction of their father Abelardo Vazquez, the trio will release tracks on iTunes with a possible album in the works. Check out theirrendition of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” here.
