Don’t worry if you weren’t able to tickets to John Leguizamo’s oh-so-hot national Ghetto Klown tour, because a new comedy produced by and starring the Colombian star is headed to ABC.

A pilot of “Kings of Van Nuys” has been ordered for the television network, which features the comedic misadventures of street-savvy brothers, Del (Leguizamo) and Rodney (played by the hilarious Dustin Ybarra) and their grandfather (Christopher) as they embark on a number of get-rich-quick schemes.

The show – based on the British hit “Only Fools and Horses” – had been picked up last season by ABC, but production was delayed in order to accommodate a complete rewrite of the original pilot. According to, production is set to begin in October with the cast addition of Wendi McLendon-Covey (who starred as bored housewife Rita on blockbuster hit “Bridesmaids”’ and BJ Bales, whom fans may remember from TV series “Happy Endings”).

Leguizamo hasn’t let the temporary setbacks regarding his television show slow him down in any way.  This summer, the 48-year-old starred in a PBS documentary which chronicled his escapades while on his “Tales from a Ghetto Klown” tour.

The film followed production of “Pelotero,” which premiered earlier this year at the Miami International Film Festival.  The project – narrated by Leguizamo – documented the story of two teen Dominican baseball stars and their journey to fulfill their dreams of becoming Major League baseball players.
