Mamiverse.com, a lifestyle, news and social media website for Latina moms and families announces the launch of the brand’s first mobile app, available now from the App Store. In partnership with Startal, a mobile media solution company whose credits include the mobile apps of DreamWorks and Lazy Town, Mamiverse Mobile will allow Latina moms and their families instant smartphone access to a deep vault of Latino content that includes recipes and Latin food trends from Mamiverse Food, and the latest Latino children’s book news and reviews from Mamiverse Books.
Mamiverse.com reaches 1.5 million unique visitors a month and made waves last summer with a historic live-stream chat between First Lady Michelle Obama and select Latina moms. Discussing issues important to them and their families, the digital event was the first of its kind between a sitting First Lady and Latina moms—key influencers of the Latino community-at-large.
“With the access capabilities of Mamiverse Mobile, we will be able to place our content directly into the hands of a Hispanic community that clearly prefers the convenience of smartphones and emerging mobile technology,” says Mamiverse founding CEO Rene Alegria. “Our platform aims to provide digital tools that better inform, engage and empower. Mamiverse Mobile helps to accomplish all three.”
Much has been written concerning the overindexing of smartphone ownership and mobile technology usage by U.S. Latinos, and the opportunity this creates for brands wanting to tap into the lucrative $1.2 trillion dollar Hispanic market.
Among other key stats:
- 51% of Latinos use a smartphone versus 41% non-Latino. (eMarketer)
- 41.8% of Latinos prefer to read email via mobile versus to 29.2% non-Hispanic. (Hispanic InsightCenter)
- 26.6% of Latinos prefer to read news on mobile versus to 17.5% non-Hispanic. (Hispanic InsightCenter)
- 15.5% of Latinos prefer TV on mobile versus 9.6% non-Hispanic. (Hispanic InsightCenter)
“The mobile technology embedded in this Mamiverse app allows for phenomenal content sharing via video and articles,” says Startal CEO Murali Tegulapelle. “Push messaging, optimal social media networking, you name it, this app has it.”
Currently only available on iPhone and iPad, Mamiverse Mobile will be available for Android in March.
